Evan Symons: This Mirror b/w Damsel In Repress

Transsiberian Mile# 24
Released February 2005

7" vinyl. When was the last time you had your ass kicked? These two new acoustic works from one of Vancouver’s most unique recording artists will do it, and how! Evan slows down his (un)usual spastic complexity here for two strum-n-glum gut-wrenching ballads. Luxuriate in watching the modern world continue its demise no matter where you look and dig this; “Our pain is our survival, our love is our denial... If we’re searching for some anthem, we won’t see, even if it comes to be…” Oh, yes… Amazing blasts of spaced-out feedback harmonics pour honey all over ‘the Mirror’, while ‘Damsel’ sounds like a seething and manic Brian Ferry singing a Roger Waters song, but read ‘like’ as barely relative, because Evan is ultimately incomparable. This amazing package is limited to 50 copies on clear lathe-cut vinyl, with full colour printing both out and inside the sleeve and a hot pink lyric sheet is included. Get down.
